Precast Concrete Manager
Job Summary: The Precast Shop Manager will be responsible for maintaining quality and efficiency, diversification through research, development, and cost analysis of product lines, and establishing a productive environment and healthy culture centered on knowledge and skill growth. The Precast Shop Manager will work closely with the Precast Shop Foreman and other personnel regarding the daily operations of the shop, including the safety and efficiency of personnel, equipment, and processes, that all tasks are completed in a timely manner, and that production runs smoothly. This role requires innovative and creative thinking, strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to motivate and manage personnel.
Essential Roles, Responsibilities, and Duties: The basic responsibilities of the Oilfield & Industrial Precast Manager includes, but is not limited to the following: 1. Oversee the shop foreman, personnel and equipment, ensuring that all operations are being carried out in accordance with company policies and safety regulations 2. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report conditions that are not correctable to owner and safety coordinator immediately 3. Ensure that production is running efficiently and that all materials and products meet quality standards 4. Research market trends and demands for innovative and proven techniques, products, and technological advancements 5. Research and submit new product ideas to upper management for consideration; prepare cost analysis; develop procedures; gain approval for requisition or construction of forms; implement items into production schedule 6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of required government, safety, and testing standards 7. Supervise shop personnel, providing guidance, training, and feedback with documentation as needed 8. Bring to upper managements’ attention personnel showing eagerness and potential for specialized or advancement training opportunities 9. Establish priorities; monitor the progress of projects and ensure that deadlines are met 10. Ensure that all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained 11. Aid Shop Foreman in troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise 12. Evaluate shop procedures and systems; measure results against standards; continually develop more efficient methods of conducting shop processes; submit improved method suggestions to upper management for evaluation; implement approved process methods 13. Monitor inventory levels and create a production schedule to replenish supplies as needed 14. Spot check physical inventory counts and compile reports as requested 15. Collaborate with customers on custom projects regarding design, cost analysis, production capacity, and schedules 16. Use proficient construction knowledge to draw and fabricate concrete forms and components to specifications 17. Coordinate with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of operations 18. Prepare, review, keep record, and submit for processing documentation daily (coding item receipts and bills, customer sales orders, equipment inspection and repair reports, time sheets) 19. Oversee the creation, distribution, and execution of production and personnel schedules 20. Assist customers in order fulfillment through various methods 21. Assist personnel and customers in contacting the appropriate personnel concerning questions and documents 22. Provide general support to visitors 23. Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner 24. Work with personnel on the production floor to carry out daily operations 25. Inspect, secure, and maintain the upkeep and appearance of facility, yard, equipment, and tools in a safe operating condition; conduct and assist others in maintenance and repair of facility and equipment 26. Fill in for positions normally reporting to Precast Shop Manager during absences, intermediary position vacancies, during slow or idle periods, and as needed 27. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements: An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily to perform this position successfully. Concrete and precast concrete experience 30. Architectural precast and/or tilt-up construction preferred 31. Proficient knowledge of concrete properties and performance under specific and adverse weather and climate conditions 32. Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role 33. Articulately communicate efficiently, tactfully and professionally with customers and company personnel 34. Detailed organization 35. Ability to multitask 36. Able to motivate and manage personnel 37. Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and efficiently 38. Ability to take the initiative to increase the quality of one’s skills to become more efficient 39. Make good judgment calls when under pressure 40. Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards 41. Knowledge of shop equipment and tools 42. Knowledge of load distribution for transport
Skills: 43. Read, write, and speak English 44. Apply proficient computer skills 45. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, user instructions, procedure, operating and maintenance manuals, and engineering specifications 46. Perform mathematical functions pertaining to estimates, volumes, quantities, etc. 47. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals 48. Ability to compute ratio and percent 49. Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions 50. Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in daily productions
